Oppdag Osdalen

The Wolf Game (for iOS and Android)

In Oppdrag Osdalen, we are reacquainted with Katja, whom we first met in Svanhovd: a climate mystery. Katja has now gone from being a research assistant to becoming a full member of a research team working with wild game.

She is called out to Osdalen in Innlandet, where a pair of wolves have settled in an area that was previously uninhabited by wolves. The level of conflict in the community is increasing between those who welcome the wolf and those who want it gone. In an attempt to understand how they will affect the people who use the same areas as the animals, Katja is sent out on a mission to map the newly arrived pair of wolves. The aim is to create a common understanding of the biology and ecology of wolves for everyone who lives in the area.

Through the game, the players can, among other things, try their hand at collecting DNA material, putting tracking collars on the wolves, and repairing the game cameras that the researchers have set out in the forest.

The Wolf Game

Together with Vitenparken and with the support of the Norwegian Environment Agency, Inspire to Action has further developed the educational game universe around Katja, predators and ecology with the game Oppdrag Osdalen. The game has been developed for children and young people between the ages of 9 and 13 and is intended to give users an insight into the predatory game debate in Norwegian society, shed light on myths and counter them with research-based knowledge, teach children and young people about the ecology and biology of predatory game, as well as give the players an introduction to research on and management of nature by letting them carry out typical research tasks through the game.

The purpose of the game is to contribute as a piece in the work to reduce fear and conflict related to the return of predators in Norwegian nature by shattering myths and increasing the user's level of knowledge in an objective, but still engaging way.
