NIBIO Svanhovd is one of the largest research institutes in Norway. They contribute to food security and safety, sustainable resource management, innovation and value creation through research and knowledge production.

A consultancy project with green content and digital design. To mobilize children and young people to take part in research and observe climate change in nature nearby.

Solution: Phenology app citicen science app to log observations of phenophases for plants beyond the arctic circle. iOS delivered and later also contract for Android and language versions.

The phenology app will deliver data to the database sustain.no. Phenology is about observing changes in nature over time, and recording what happens at different times of the year. Phenology on the North Calotte is an initiative to stimulate schools to take an active part in nature observations and registrations. Phenological data contributes to increased ecological knowledge, and is useful when studying climate change, for example. The app will be a tool to achieve the following learning goals: Collect annual phenological data and understand the connection between climate and the cycles in nature. Contribute their observations in a phenological database to see their data in a larger context. Collected data is available on the results pages, and can be used for comparisons over years and areas. Inspire to Action AS has the technical and creative responsibility for the development of design and functionality according to the requirements specification.
